Seiko launched the Grand Quartz line in the mid-1970s as a premium quartz alternative to its mechanical Grand Seiko line. These watches were built with exceptional precision and often featured Seiko’s Twin Quartz technology, which used two quartz oscillators to compensate for temperature variations—resulting in incredible accuracy, sometimes within 10 seconds per year. This particular Seiko Grand Quartz dates back to 1977. The Grand Quartz models were the shining stars of the Seiko range (now rebranded as Grand Seiko), featuring the highest quality components and finishing of anything that left the Suwa factory. It features an 18k yellow gold case, a champagne-gold frosted dial, and Seiko’s beautifully minimal case design.
